As with any usual Friday morning in Carbon, we get many-a-usual phone calls. Until this less-than-usual call came in...

Here's my contribution to the nominees for "Phone Call of the Year" (if there was such a category)

This is the conversation, not in verbatim, but still as accurately as possible with any identification to persons / bodies involved changed for their protection / privacy (because we love people - just that this call kind of amused us a fair bit).

Carbonite: "Hello! Carbon Interactive - how may I help you?"
Caller: "Hi, I am calling from XXX (a certain institution), we are building an eco-friendly car...you know the CnG kind?"
Carbonite: "Uh-huh, yup..."
Caller: "Yes...we want to make the car body out of carbon fibre..."
Carbonite: "..."
Caller: "So uh...can your company supply us?"
Carbonite: [Pause] "Uh, I'm sorry but i think you've got the wrong number, we don't supply carbon material"
Caller: "But i got your number from the website"
Carbonite: "Sorry, but which website did you get it from?"
Caller: "Street Directory..."
Carbonite: "Ok...but I'm sorry, we can't help you..."
Caller: "You mean you are not a carbon product supplier?"
Carbonite: "No we're not..."
Caller: "Oh ok...maybe i try again... thanks"
Carbonite:"No problem, bye"

So yes...a word to from us: We are Carbon Interactive - we do interactive designs and create wonderous digital solutions. We love our clients, and our clients love us too. The thing that we don't do as a company... is supply carbon.

But thank you to whoever you were - you've made our day so much more interesting in just a span of 2 minutes. Much love from the Carbon crew to you!

A Ball of A Good Time

Hello again from the land of the Carbonites!

It's been awhile since our last update, but here's something fresh from our monthly adventures.

Our latest Carbon outing calls us out to a show of skills (or lack of it) upon the basketball court. It was supposed to be a typical game of 3-on-3, but yes... with us nothing's really typical. Going beyond shooting hoops, we've got flying feathers (i.e. badminton) and our dear Art Director taking time to reminisce his childhood... and a little more.

The clip says it better than words, so why not just watch it instead!

(Yes i know the song and the titles don't actually agree on the 'thursday vs. friday' bit, but yes, how many songs do u find singing about 'thursdays' ?? Hmmmm??)

Nope, its not the latest sensation in weight lost technologies - but it is the latest craze from the Carbonites' series of Latecomers' Variety Show. The launch of this video therefore signals the search for a new dance for our beloved 'late-bloomers'. Carbon Launches New Fashion Line... Well Not Exactly.

Here's taking a quick break from work. In our love for all things creative, we have apparently created a fashion line wearable by both man and man's best friend. Here's a preview of this year's Summer Collection:

Introducing the long-await Carbon Designer Line: SIDEKICK - where you make the clothes, not the other way round.

Our designs are made from recycled material - previously non-biodegradable materials turned into wearable fashion statements. What's more, since they cannot be degraded so easily, you have no reason to keep buying new items - saving you loads of cash, and saving the earth too!

Ping Pong Mania

Hi there!

How's the reader doing today. Hope you're loving the year thus far.

The team at Carbon (to be precise- some souls in there) have discovered an 'alternative' way to play - when one is without Wii (for the time being i.e).

We turned the conference room table into a Ping Pong Table this afternoon - with 2009 Calendar, some rectangular-shaped items posing as the net in b/w us. With Asians holding to a ping pong bat, one instantly looks like a pro (whether the fella has actual playing skills or not).

I don't have a pic to showcase here. But will do so when we get the scene captured again. For am sure, we will be hanging around that room for more smashin' games on the 'Ping Pong' table soon.

Hmm.. what are some other creative ways you can do with the existing furnitures in your office and turn it into play-land? We hope to discover more in the coming days... :D

No this is not the title of the latest most tasty treat in the market today, its another update from us here at Carbon! (yay!)

It was a nice quiet day when all of a sudden the office fire alarm went off. We took a look around and realized that our pantry area was smokin'! Not like 'hot and sexy' but like Ha-OT(!) kinda smokin'! Apparently someone was up to a secret brownie experiment... here's the scoop:

Rest assured that we have done everything we can to prevent the recurrence of a similar incident. No casualties were reported due to the incident (except for one hyper-tanned brownie)

Clothes Peg Day 08

Finally a proper update is here! Apologies to our loyal readers, our hands have been moving non-stop for a while over here at Carbon, so here's the first of a good many updates to come your way!

On the 15 Oct, we 'celebrated' Clothes Peg Day(much excitement)! The main mode of the festivities requires that we all adorn ourselves with the customary "Clothes Peg of Thankfulness" - everyone is granted their very own "Clothes Peg of Thankfulness", which is attached onto some part of us for the entire day to remind us to be thankful for a great many things (such as sweets, candies and all the other euphoria-inducing materials).

Carbon @ The Awards

As promised, here's a look at our fabulous night at the awards. This year Carbon clinched no. 9 in Marketing Magazine's top 10 creative agencies category. Honestly, we wonder how we even got nominated for this; but nevertheless, we would like to give a big shout out to God, and to whoever voted for us - because YOU put us where we are today. To all our clients, thank you for having us on board for all your campaigns and projects; this achievement only makes us desire to do better in the coming days. Lotsa love from all here at Carbon! =)

Para Para Mania!

This week we sought a new way of 'helping' team members with 'punctuality challenges' - so we decided that dancing would help get them stepping 'in time'. Para Para may have hit Carbon a little late, but boy did was it a hit! So anyways, here's what actually went down. Enjoy! =)

On a more personal note, in response to the previous entry by our previous copywriter / web designer / project manager - i.e. the ever-talented Karene - i actually get what you mean when you said 'leaving Carbon is one of those things you wish you never had to do'. Even only after a short stay here, i totally feel the same way! so i must say that i am extremely thankful to be a part of this team. *Get me a tissue! My face is leaking!*

Carrots?!!

As much as I hate the carrots some 'naughty kids' sent, I haven't forgotten anyone at carbon (but yes, the sunflowers are awesome, as always. What can I say? My Papa created them spectacular. Woo.)

Hmm... This is probably the most belated farewell entry in carbon so far. My sincerest apologies for that. And thus, this might be a little longer than expected.

(Sorry Alwin, for invading your space even after I've moved on.)

Well, yes. I have been gone for 3 months now and carbon is winning an award! :) The two years I'd spent in carbon had been such a ride that I can barely begin to describe it -- not my experience, nor my emotions!

Although there were occasions when I thought I was going to suffer a nervous breakdown, there were always incredibly ridiculous colleagues to laugh it off with me, and supportive bosses who were so often encouraging and pushing me to greater things. Uhm... whilst adding to my stress level. lol.

But I'm thankful no less, for the challenges that I was presented with, and for the opportunity to do the things I love (and hated *grumbles* -- but learnt so much from).

Thank you, Lily, for calling me and hiring me even after I rejected your earlier offers and told you I hate working; for teaching me and disciplining me when I was blur or acted immaturely; and most of all, for being my sister, my friend, and praying for me when I most needed comfort.

Thank you, Chew, for choosing to "adopt me" into carbon and allowing me to be a part of this amazing company -- and by company, I don't just mean the corporate entity, but the company of friends I found!; for taking us out for late night suppers and telling us your dramatic stories from previous jobs; and for protecting me from not-so-nice clients.

Thank you, Jeffrey, for being my taxi buddy and making me laugh so very often. You've been in carbon for as long as I have, and now that I'm gone, I hope you actually miss me! Because I do miss you. I miss your nonsense. Really. ;)

Thank you, Wendy, for being the other person who'd make me laugh as much as Jeff does; for being my jie mei in the office, and doing all the silly things. We'll still be good friends for a long time to come!

Thank you, Terry, for caring and laughing with me when it really mattered. Though we weren't very close, life in the office wouldn't be the same without another more sane person to hang around with (i.e. you). Yes, the rest of them are loooooney. Thank you for all the brief moments we spent traveling together and the collective fun we had with everyone. Please leave a space for me at your wedding!

Thank you, Laoda, for the Korean BBQ meal and for being you. I'm glad people still call you laoda, because I started it! LOL. :) And yes, actually, I must thank you again for the Korean BBQ meal -- it was super. So super that I'm still craving for it.

Thank you, Chase & Esther, for being the very sweet girls you are and being so excited for me when you heard about where I was heading. We hadn't spent much time together, but hey, we're all headed for eternity together. Thanks for sharing the laughter.

Thank you, Choo Wee, for bringing in some good accounts to the company and teaching me new stuff about well, stuff. LOL. And for sending me home a few times, especially the time I left my wallet with Eueu!

And thank you, Eueu, for being my best friend. I see you all the time so... well. :P Please don't send me carrots next time.

Tomorrow will be yet another "Teacher, book comp!" day for me, and though I don't regret choosing to be where I am right now, I always wished that leaving carbon wasn't one of the things I had to do.

Well, y'see, Eunice and I had plans to make some noise (sound) on the blog. So yes, it has come to pass! heh.

Anyways, the videos (below entries) should be very telling of what the Carbonites have been up to -- apart from working very hard and eye-balling their desktop screens. :p

The videos showcase the dudes and dudettes clothed in red. a.n.d red alone; Well, it wasn't because we people are crazy over that hue. It just so happened, the shots were taken a day before Singapore's 43rd. This should thus be self-explanatory? Hehe.
